 for 115km of the 169km stage

May 6-2013- Cadel Evans finishes 2nd in stage 

May 4-2013- Cameron Wurf in solo break, hung on to take stages only intermediate sprint  caught with 24km to go & just missed out on donning KOM jersey on countback.

2012- Matt Goss won stage 3 on May 7th  & claimed 2nd in stage 2

2011- Richie Porte an impressive fourth in final time trial stage on May 4th into Milan

2010 - Richie Porte donned 'Maglia Rosa' for a few days and claimed white jersey ,Matt Lloyd soloed to stage win May 14th and won KOM, Cadel Evans won an epic stage on May 15th across the wet "strada bianche" and won Points classification, Matt Goss won a stage on May 17th,Graeme Brown claimed 2nd on a stage

2009- Simon Gerrans breakaway win on climb to win stage on May 23rd, Allan Davis finished top 3 on three stages,

2008- Christopher 'CJ' Sutton won TTT Stage on May 10th, Stuart O'Grady finished 2nd in TTT stage,

2007- Robbie McEwen won stage on May 13th and also took the Maglia Ciclamino jersey for points leader,William Walker 11th in Stage & finished 12th Young rider

2006- Robbie McEwen won three stages May 7th, 9th & 12th, Brad McGee 2nd in stage, Henk Vogels finished a great 4th in stage 15 sprint, Matthew White 8th in stage (3rd in peloton sprint), Michael Rogers part of Team Time Trial win on May 11th.

2005- Brett Lancaster won prologue on May 7th and started the Giro in 'Maglia Rosa' leaders jersey, Robbie McEwen 2nd stage 1 & won 3 stages on May 9th,13th and 18th  and wore the 'Maglia Rosa' leaders jersey 

2004- Bradley McGee won prologue and after finishing 2nd on stage 1 wore maglia rosa for two stages and finished Tour 8th on GC and finished 4th in Azzurri d'Italia class,Robbie McEwen won stage 5,

2003- Robbie McEwen won two stages,Scott Sunderland finished 19th in Stage 18 

2002- Robbie McEwen won 2 Stages and Cadel Evans donned 'Maglia Rosa' on stage 16 & 3rd in stage TT stage &  finished 14th GC

2001- Nathan O'Neill 27th in Prologue

2000-David McKenzie won stage 7 in memorable solo breakaway and Bradley McGee placed third in TT prologue

1990- Phil Anderson won a stage, placed in two other stages & finished 2nd in point class and Allan Peiper won a Stage, Stephen Hodge was 4th in opening stage

1989 - Phil Anderson won stage 16 on June 6th and 3rd in  stage on May 25th

1987- Phil Anderson finished 2nd in stage & 7th on GC (best ever GC finish by an Aussie to date) 

1985- Michael Wilson podiumed top 3 in two stages & finished 8th on GC (first Aussie to finish top 10) 

1982- Michael Wilson won a stage after solo attack on the final climb amd becomes first Australian to win a stage of Giro d' Italia
